I am tracking my writing this month in an effort to get more on track! Join me on my journey!

I plan on posting weekly!  Woo!

April 1, 2014

Read, edited, and revised my silly “food” story. One of my goals is to query it around by May!

Read, edited, and revised two friends’ writing—giving constructive feedback as I like to get as well!

Added ideas to yet another bug story that I’ve come up with. I don’t even have a skeleton for it yet, but I have his personality shining through. It’s funny what “comes” to you sometimes!

Sent my silly “food” story to 6 folks in the hopes to get some good feedback on it so I can improve, improve and improve some more! I want to submit it to a conference, for a professional critique, I’ll be attending in June (hopefully) in its best possible form!

I’m having trouble focusing on any one story. I have 12 documents on my desktop. 9 PB, 3 CB.  I want to finish them all! Sometimes… I can’t think of an ending…. Sometimes, I can’t think of the middle of a story! Sometimes, I just get an idea that I really love, but not a whole story comes out of it yet, and it just sits there.

The one story I had been sending out this year so far has not gotten any “bites” or anything. I’ve come to a place where I’m stuck. I think it’s a wonderful story, and I believe in it, but I just need to do more research on where to send it and who to send it to, I guess. I kind of decided to work on some other stories and then come back to that one because I submitted it for a critique that is supposed to be finished by mid-June at the absolute latest…. I’m kind of waiting on that feedback as I don’t know where else to take that story!  I shaped. I made my character a bit more dramatic. I cut every word out that I felt I could. I’m really excited for the feedback from the critique, because the”critiquer” is a literary agent at a major NY literary agency…. and I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever written! I’d love to share it with the world!

Read about my craft through 4 blogs, a few NPR stories, and “followed” a few more literary agents on Twitter. Pondered about the twitterverse. I will have to learn more about it and try to use it more!

Was interviewed by a wonderful fellow writer about my e-book and am excited to see the final result later this month.

Read a little bit of a story by Neil Gaiman, Interworlds. It’s SO so good. I hope to finish it before his talk on Friday that I feel lucky to attend with some of my fabulous fellow writers! I’m so glad I have been exposed to another kind of writing! I love finding out about new authors! (He also wrote Coraline, and many other works! If you like Sci-Fi, Tim Burton, or anything about alternate universes / dimensions, check him out!).

Granted I did not “work” at my jobby job today because everyone in our household, even the poor pup :( , took ill from bad salmon (or chicken? Or both?), so I was “home” to do all of this. Still proud of what got accomplished so far and am looking forward to the rest of the week.

Keeping myself accountable! Not just waiting around for inspiration, but writing regularly, and when inspired, too! :) Woo! April!

My goal? To be published (again, and with a tangible version of a book) by 50! Woo! :) (Hopefully 40, as I’m 31, but, I’ll take 50.)

Have a great week, everyone!  What are your goals for the rest of the year?  Did you have any April Fools’ pranks pulled on you yesterday?  Did you pull any on anyone else?   :)OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sidenote of possible interest: My paternal grandmother warned my parents not to name me “April”. My maiden name was “Freel” and she said people would call me “April Fool” instead of “April Freel.” You have to love it when people are looking out for you! I always think of that every April. Grandma Margie is awesome!
